# Zlide Top tank, where Innokin's 2022 award winner stands

> The Innokin Zlide Top tank is still on sale four years on. Z coils, glass sizes, what differs between packs and what UK rules change before you buy.

Launched in late 2022 alongside the Coolfire Z60 kit, the Innokin **Zlide Top tank** is still sold by retailers four years later. Its staying power rests on one simple design choice, airflow that enters from the top, and on a coil family Innokin has kept in production for years. What the pack actually contains is another matter, because product pages do not all describe the same Zlide Top tank.

## The Zlide Top tank in short

The **Zlide Top tank** is a 510 thread clearomiser built first for mouth to lung vaping. A ring at the top sets the airflow, from a tight draw through to a restricted direct lung draw as the wattage climbs.

Innokin describes it as its first Z Coil tank with top airflow. It takes the whole Z Coil family and ships with a 0.6 ohm DuoPrime coil rated for 9 to 13 W.

Filling happens from the top by sliding the top cap open. The manufacturer credits the top airflow with keeping leaks away and says the sliding fill is designed to avoid overflow while refilling.

The key specifications, going by Innokin's page and retailer listings, are as follows.

- 510 connection, 24 to 24.5 mm wide depending on the listing;
- top airflow, from a tight MTL draw to RDL;
- top fill with a sliding top cap;
- Z Coils, with a 0.6 ohm DuoPrime (9 to 13 W) fitted;
- replacement glasses of 2, 3 and 4.5 ml.

## A tank born with the Coolfire Z60

The Zlide Top did not arrive on its own. It came with the Coolfire Z60, a mod with a built-in 2500 mAh battery that runs from 6 to 60 W and charges over USB-C, according to Innokin's product page.

The pairing picked up awards straight away. In a news post dated 11 November 2022, Innokin reports that the specialist site Vaping Post named the Zlide Top best MTL tank and best all-round clearomiser, while the Coolfire Z60 took best starter kit.

Today the tank is also sold on its own and fits any 510 mod. A high output device such as the [Vaporesso Gen Max dual battery mod](/uk/vaporesso-gen-max-mod/) will take it without trouble, although the Zlide Top tank only needs a fraction of that power with its stock coil.

## Z Coils, the real backbone of the tank

This is where the Zlide Top differs most from recent pod kits. It does not rely on a single dedicated coil but on a family Innokin has used across several generations of tanks.

### Zenith and Z Coil, two names for the same coils

One detail rarely repeated on product pages can save a wasted purchase. In a note from December 2019, Innokin explains that boxes marked Zenith and boxes marked Z Coil hold the same coils, and that the Z Coil name has replaced the old one entirely.

A Zenith coil still sitting on a shop shelf therefore fits a Zlide Top just as a newer Z Coil does. The same note recommends these coils for the Zenith, Zlide and Zenith Pro tanks.

### The values on offer and what they are for

The manufacturer's note sets out the classic range. It lists a 0.48 ohm Plex3D and a 0.5 ohm Plexus coil, followed by kanthal coils at 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 and 1.6 ohm.

Innokin pairs the 1.6 ohm coil with nicotine salt e-liquids and the 1.0 ohm coil with restricted direct lung or warmer mouth to lung vaping. The 0.6 ohm DuoPrime supplied in the Zlide Top is the first DuoPrime in the Z Coil line, with a second mesh layer built into the wick to help saturation, according to Innokin.

### The 0.3 ohm coil and its shifting power range

Some packs add a 0.3 ohm coil for a more open draw. Its recommended power is not quoted the same way everywhere, with one retailer giving 30 to 45 W and other sources 30 to 40 W. When in doubt, the range printed on the coil packet is the one to follow.

## Glass sizes and what UK rules change

Innokin offers three replacement glasses for the Zlide Top, at 2, 3 and 4.5 ml. The glass fitted out of the box depends on the version, with a 3 ml bubble glass on several product pages.

In the UK, a tank used with nicotine e-liquid is capped at 2 ml, refill bottles of nicotine e-liquid at 10 ml and nicotine strength at 20 mg per ml. On a Zlide Top tank, only the 2 ml straight glass fits that cap, while the 3 and 4.5 ml glasses go beyond it.

The quoted diameter ranges from 24 to 24.5 mm depending on the listing, a gap worth remembering if the mod it sits on is narrow.

## Two packs, two sets of contents

This is the most practical trap for a buyer. Retailer listings describe at least two different sets of box contents under the same name.

The first pairs the 3 ml bubble glass with a 2 ml straight glass, the 0.6 ohm DuoPrime coil, two 510 drip tips (one for MTL, one for RDL) and a bag of seals. The second supplies a 4.5 ml glass in place of the 2 ml one, adds a 0.3 ohm coil and includes a single RDL drip tip.

Before ordering, reading the contents list tells you whether you get one drip tip or two, one coil or two, and above all which glass comes fitted.

## What to watch on the Zlide Top tank next

Innokin has not announced a direct successor to the Zlide Top. Two signals are still worth following.

The first is the coils. As long as the Z Coil range stays in production across its values, the tank keeps its appeal, since the coil is what shapes the vape.

The second is the finishes. Six colourways appear on matching listings from two retailers, including stainless steel, gunmetal and rainbow. If that choice started to shrink at retailers, it could signal the end of the line. To place this kind of revision, the grid we apply to any [new e-cigarette sold as an upgrade](/uk/new-e-cigarette/) works for a tank as well.

## FAQ

The questions that come up most often concern compatibility and upkeep.

### How do you change the coil in a Zlide Top?

Z Coils push into place with no thread. Empty the tank, unscrew the base, pull out the old coil and press the new one in before putting everything back together.

### How long should you wait before the first draw?

One retailer listing advises priming the coil with a few drops of e-liquid, then waiting 10 to 15 minutes after filling. Starting at the bottom of the recommended power range also lowers the risk of a burnt taste.

### Can the Zlide Top go on a pod kit?

No, it needs a mod or battery with a 510 connection. Cartridge kits generally have no such thread.

### Which drip tip suits which draw?

The narrower MTL drip tip goes with a tight draw and the airflow nearly closed. The wider RDL drip tip suits an open ring and higher wattage.

### Do coils from the original Zlide fit?

Yes, the Zlide and the Zlide Top both use the Z Coil family. The most visible difference is the airflow, which enters from the top on the Zlide Top.

## Zlide Top tank, best judged by its coils

Four years after launch, the Zlide Top still rests on a simple idea, well tuned top airflow and a coil family Innokin has not dropped. Its weak points are mostly about clarity, with packs that differ and power ranges that do not agree.

To choose a **Zlide Top tank** without a mistake, check the fitted glass, the coil value and the contents list before the colour. It is also the best way to follow how MTL tanks evolve, whichever brand makes them.
